HiChester helps friends record and split trip expenses. This policy explains what information we handle and how we use it.
Information we collect
- Email addresses used to create, recover, or join trips.
- Names, trip names, dates, travelers, expenses, notes, currencies, and settlement records that you enter.
- Receipts that you choose to upload.
- Basic technical information needed to operate and secure the service, such as browser, device, IP, authentication, and error information.
How we use information
We use this information to provide HiChester, connect you to your trips, calculate balances, store receipts, send private access emails, prevent misuse, and maintain the service.
Who can see trip information
People connected to the same trip can see that trip’s travelers, expenses, balances, notes, and receipts. A trip link is private and should be shared only with people you trust. It does not provide access to a traveler’s other trips.
Service providers
HiChester uses service providers for hosting, database storage, authentication, email delivery, and currency-rate information. They may process limited information only to provide those services.
Receipts
Receipt files are stored privately. A temporary secure link is created when an authorized trip member opens a receipt. Please avoid uploading documents containing information that is not needed for the trip.
Data choices
You can edit trip details and delete a trip from HiChester. To request access to or deletion of information connected to your email, contact hello@hichester.com.
Data retention and security
We keep information while it is needed to provide the service or meet legitimate operational and legal needs. We use access controls and private storage, but no online system can guarantee absolute security.
Children
HiChester is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
Changes
We may update this policy as HiChester changes. The updated date at the top will show when it was revised.
